Our Neighborhood

We live in a family-friendly neighborhood in NYC, where children on bikes and scooters are the norm on the sidewalks. Families walking their dogs, playgrounds, and picnics are the normal happenings we love to take part in. We live in between the two major parks in the city, and there are at least 20 playgrounds within walking distance. We have easy access to subway transportation to get anywhere we want to go, to enjoy all the museums/culture/activities that NYC has to offer. We have the safety of being in a family-friendly place, and the joy of living amidst so many cultures and diverse people groups.

Our Hobbies

Ben has more energy than anyone Joy has ever met. He loves working out, playing outdoor sports (and indoor jujitsu), chopping wood, camping, hiking, and building things. He is also an avid reader. He enjoys classical literature and things that speak to the human soul. He has also been known to complete some Tough Mudders, Spartan races, and take part in triathlons.

Joy enjoys relationships with people and nature more than anything. Whether hiking, going for a run, if it’s alone or with a friend, she enjoys having fun outdoors! Anything involving water, whether pools, ocean, or a water park, summer fun in the sun is when she comes alive.  One of the ways she has fun is commuting around NYC on her scooter, and has been known to bring her son along to ride on it, or her bike. She also loves sewing, reading, playing piano, and coffee with friends.

Our Cabin

As we mentioned, we have a magical vacation home in the woods. It is the literal opposite of city living, but is an easy drive. We love that we have the best of both worlds (the culture of NYC, with incredible educational opportunities, and all the extra curricular activities one could imagine, but also the quiet/calm nature of the woods and the sweet simplicity of a slower pace of life and doing things a little more old-fashioned). This is a place we go to recharge, connect with nature, one another, God, and friends.
